The Wearhouse offers you the choice -- receive cash up front for your items or leave them on consignment.  What's the difference?   When we buy clothing or other items, we generally offer 25% - 40% of our selling price.  For example, we buy kids jeans at $2-$3 each; we usually sell the same for $6-$8.  When paying cash, the store takes the chance the item might sell at a discounted price, or not at all.    We are very quality selective when we pay cash outright.   When you consign you will receive 50% of the selling price.  It is our experience that customers make more money when they consign.   Unlike any other store, it's your choice!  And we guarantee we are competitive with any other shop in the area that buys outright!

 

The Wearhouse carries quality gently-worn clothing purchased less than 3 years ago for women, children and teens.  Clothing is consigned for 60 days.  To allow for fresh inventory, clothing is discounted 10% after 20 days, 20% off after 40 days, and 30% off after 50 days.  Once the consignment period expires,  consignors have 10 days to contact the store to request any unsold items be pulled.  Please give a few days notice, as we pull items as our schedule allows.  Items not picked up within one week of the pull request, become the property of The Wearhouse.  The Wearhouse donates regularly to Lancaster Council of Churches Clothing Bank and the Mennonite Reuzit shops.   Consignors are welcome to shop from their account, or stop in anytime for their money.

    Fall:  July/Aug/Sept

    Spring :  Jan/Feb/March          

    Summer:  April/May

Because of the volume of consignments that are dropped off every week, we ask that you call ahead to schedule a day.  While we still have a 'drop and run' policy, meaning NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY, we ask that you call us in advance to be added to our drop-off list for the day you plan to bring consignments.   Once you are on our book, you may drop off any time the store is open that day.   We are flexible and will work with you to accommodate your busy schedule.  

  • mall brand names sell best!
  • clothing must be freshly laundered
  • clothing must be less than 3 years old
  • clothing must be neatly folded and in a plastic storage container or in a shopping bag (no trash bags please)
  • shoes/ handbags must be like-new
  • clothing must have size & brand tags

  • No Discount store brands (Kmart, etc)
  • no stains, tears, missing buttons, pills
  • no smoke odor, pet hair
  • no undergarments or socks
  • no souvenir/ advertising clothing
  • no basic t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants
  • no left-over yard sale items

• Clothing must be less than 3 years old  

• No discount brand clothing (i.e., Kmart / Walmart / Kohls brands)    

• Clothing must be screened before dropping off (remove old, stained, torn pieces) 

 

*Per our insurance carrier, all baby equipment/toys sold in our store must be manufactured within 3 years.  Items must be very clean and ready to sell.  The Wearhouse will charge as necessary to clean items.  Equipment/toys must be complete and in good working condition (with batteries).  We accept bassinets, pak-n-plays, swings, hi-chairs, exersaucers, and strollers to name a few.  It is very helpful to attach any instructions/owners manuals.  Due to safety reasons, we do not sell infant car seats or cribs.  Toys, games, puzzles must have the necessary batteries for operation and contain all necessary pieces.  We cannot accept vhs tapes or stuffed animals.  There is a $2.00 charge if we must supply batteries
